It is what use to be the world famous China Club. The new club is own by the L.A. Church of Christ... Prime 9 News David Jackson: ...Our Tracie Savage is in Hollywood with a live report. Tracie. Prime 9 News Tracie Savage: Pat and David, what critics say they are afraid of is that owners of this new club will be serving up a brand of religion they say is like a destructive cult. So many people oppose the L.A. Church of Christ that they have been protesting here tonight. Let's take a look, many of these people former church members. The L.A. Church of Christ has been under fire for years from former members who say the leaders try to control the lives of the members. This new club tonight adds more fuel to the opposition fire. It use to be the world famous China Club, the L.A. Church of Christ now calls it the Upside Down Club. Inside they get ready for the night club first concert... ...critics of the L.A. Church of Christ including former members believe this is just a trap by a dangerous cult group, a way to lure in unsuspecting customers... Prime 9 News Tracie Savage: ...Reggie Greene is a senior at Cal State L.A., the L.A. Church of Christ tried to convert him two years ago. The organization actively recruits young people at college campuses, but Reggie never became a member, he says there was just too much pressure from the leaders to conform to their rules. He says like a cult the L.A. Church of Christ tried to control his every move...
